Founded in January 2026, Open Cycles is a social initiative that aims to increase access to preventative care and awareness for PCOS among girls from underserved communities in peri-urban Gujarat. The initiative addresses the limited visibility of hormonal and gynecological health by combining accessible education, expert engagement, community screening, and post-screening support.
We developed simplified educational material under the Learning Cycles awareness intervention. These fact sheets explain what PCOS is, its symptoms, treatment pathways, and preventative care strategies. Designed to make medical information more accessible, the materials also provided contacts for healthcare professionals, enabling young women to seek guidance for hormonal health concerns.
Knowledge Cycles, is an expert-led webinar bringing together gynaecologists, women and girls’ health specialists, and public health professionals to discuss the simultaneous prevalence and invisibility of PCOS within public health discourse. These sessions are envisioned as a platform for young women to learn directly from experts.
Building on these awareness efforts, the ultimate goal is to build Screening Cycle Camps, which utilize non-diagnostic methods such as structured questionnaires to identify early indicators of PCOS among adolescent girls which will be conducted in collaboration with partner organizations. Eventually, under Changing Cycles, a post-screening consultation initiative we hope to translate awareness into sustained preventative care.
